Yeah i get that, i don't really bother cleaning it too much before getting to the lineart cuz i just don't feel it's really needed...
Specifically digital art, i do all my lines traditionaly, so i make pencil sketches on top of my digital sketches that serve as proportion guidelines essentially lol...
I do like you do with my pencil stuff tho, if i wanna sketch with pencil directly i make it really clean, cuz agaun, my pencil sketches are just quite literally my linearts... :V
